Schools at the Jacksonville Beaches

Atlantic Beach, Neptune Beach and Jacksonville Beach sit in Duval. Ponte Vedra sits in St. Johns. The county line runs right through the beach, and it changes everything about schooling.

Duval County Public Schools and St. Johns County School District · Florida Department of Education 2024-25 file, snapshot dated 30 June 2026 · confirm attendance zones with the relevant district

The beaches look like one continuous strip when you drive A1A, and for most purposes they behave like one. Schools are the exception. The Duval–St. Johns county line cuts across the beach south of Jacksonville Beach, and it puts homes a few minutes apart into two entirely separate school districts.

That single fact drives a large share of the price difference along this stretch of coast, and it is the first thing I check when a buyer sends me a beach address. Two districts means two sets of boundaries, two application processes for choice programmes, and two different offices to call.

The list below covers the public schools carrying an Atlantic Beach, Neptune Beach, Jacksonville Beach or Ponte Vedra address in the state's 2024-25 file. Each entry shows which county it sits in, because at the beaches that is the detail that matters most.

Read this before you shortlist a house on schools

This page lists schools by where the school building is, not by which homes it serves. Attendance zones are drawn by the school district, they are redrawn from time to time, and two houses on the same street can sit in different zones.

  • Confirm the current zone for the exact address with the school district before you make an offer: Duval County Public Schools, St. Johns County School District.
  • Magnet, charter, choice, virtual and private schools do not follow the residential zone at all — each has its own application and eligibility rules.
  • Learning-gains percentages are a single year from one state dataset. They are not a school grade and they are not advice.

Fair-housing note: schools are described here in factual terms only. Choosing where to live is yours to make.

Elementary schools

Check the county first, then the zone. At the beaches the two questions are not the same.

Which side of the county line is your beach house on?

Send me the address and I will tell you the county, the current school assignment and what the tax picture looks like on each side. At the beaches those three answers usually decide the purchase.
